Sat-Karam Foundation is predicated on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who taught us the virtue of ‘Sewa’. ‘Sewa’ means selfless service of humanity without any expectation of a reward in return. Guruji taught us to strive to develop 3 virtues in life: (1) Kirat Karna, (2) Naam Japna, & (3) Vand Chhakna. Vand Chhakna is “to share”.
Sat-Karam Foundation strives to reach out and extends a helping hand to not only those who have been left under-privileged in the urban set-up but also to the villagers including Adivasis in the far-flung places inhabiting difficult terrains (the inaccessibility adding to their woes), where not many would venture to even see their plight, let alone help them.
OUR HUMBLE INITIATIVE
Our NGO has “adopted” 20 students from the slums in one of the suburbs namely Ghatkopar (W), who had lost their fathers, the only earning member of the family and who were at the verge of leaving their studies. Sat-Karam Foundation has taken upon itself not only the responsibility of payment of their School Fees, Tuition Fees etc. but it also conducts Extra-curricular Activities for these 20 students every Sunday by holding Yoga Classes, Computer Classes and recently started ‘English Speaking Classes’ with the help of another NGO – ‘English Vinglish’, under the aegis of a group of benevolent teachers from Mumbai, Mrs. Sushma Shetty, Ms. Vanshika Shetty, Mrs.Akhila Krishnan, Mrs. Theresa Banerjee, Mrs. Tasneem Rajgara and Mr. Lokesh Chaudhari.
